The bar for cheap Android tablets has been lowered yet again, this time with the Sunnycube V7 model, a $40 Android tablet coming straight out of China. The device is pictured below and it may just be the cheapest Android slate ever… at least from China.
There was an Android slate in India priced at $35, but that price tag was achieved through government subsidies for schools. Back to the V7 that we’re discussing here, this product is a low cost companion that’s certainly not an iPad or Nexus. It supports a WVGA resolution and uses 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of ROM, dual cameras and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
The CPU inside is a dual core Cortex A9 1.5 GHz processor and it’s actually encouraging to see a decent CPU on a cheap tablet for once. Recently I saw a tablet or two gravitating around $100 and offering a Cortex A5 CPU, so that’s a big no no.
