Pocketbook is a company that makes a bunch of tablets we’ve shown you on this website, like the A7 model, that just went on sale in Russia. Priced at $268, this slate comes with a 7 inch TFT LCD display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. The multitouch tablet uses a Texas Instruments OMAP3621 1GHz processor (ARM Cortex A8).
Pocketbook A7 features 512MB RAM, 4GB of storage, a slot for microSD cards, a 2 megapixel camera and WiFi. This E-Book reader/tablet runs Android 2.3.7, comes with a mail client and browser, the usual for such devices. The device also offers a text to speech feature, being able to turn books into audio books, which is cool in my book. There’s also Android Market access and you get some preinstalled apps as well, such as the Office Suite Pro package, the Internet messenger IM+ and the CoolReader software for reading electronic books.
The product costs $268, as mentioned above and it comes with a glossy, plasticky milk white case. The sales of this new product begin this month, at least in Russia.
