Microsoft has a new ad showing us the need for a full USB port on a Surface tablet and its lack on a Galaxy Tab model. As you can see, once you plug in the Galaxy Tab to charge, there’s no other port left to connect devices like a camera or USB drive.

This ad may sound like payback for Samsung’s retirement from the development of Windows 8 slates, but I have to say it’s not nice to ridicule a former hardware partner. Anyway, as you can see the Surface RT is shown here as an alternative to a 10.1 inch Galaxy Tab, that lacks a full size USB port. In the meantime Microsoft should better take a long hard look at the tablet stats that Samsung generates.

They’re playing catch up with the iPad already, with an impressive market share growth, even though their tablets are not that impressive. The Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is a very solid model, but it didn’t have the time to conquer the market just yet. 2014 will be the year when you may see Samsung unleashed and 8 inch Windows 8.1 slates taking some market share from Android. Now those are things that could generate cute ads, not a full size USB port…
