I’ve got to hand it to Meizu: they started off like an Apple clone company, by copying the iPhone design and then along the way they create their own unique designs for handsets, with some pretty good specs attached. Now they’re getting into tablets, if the following concept video is to be believed.

Meizu sells its phones with a custom version of Android called Flyme OS and the platform will now make its way to the Meizu tablet shown here. Meet the Meizu Max concept slate with Flyme 3.0 OS on board. The concept video shows us a slate with an incredible 13 megapixel camera at the back, a very nice design and a Retina level display with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution (actually superior to Retina). The design of the tablet fits recent leaks about the iPad 5: a bigger iPad Mini with small bezels.

If you’ve been checking out Meizu’s latest designs, they have a knack for coming up with designs that are actually taken from future iPhone concepts. Now they’re doing an iPad concept ahead of Apple, so how cool is that? As far as the OS goes, Flyme 3.0 involves some UI traits that WebOS fans will find familiar, such as the “cards” used for each open app. Truly a great concept!
