There’s a number of reasons why Apple should be failing to deliver its products right now, but the worst has been avoided. The Cupertino had concerns regarding the updated LCD, touchscreen panel lamination problems, speaker shortages and completion of units, to name only a few. The info comes from IHS iSuppli, quoting the latest results call from Apple.

The analysts from the firm reduced the forecast by 4 million units, so the shipped iPads this year should be around 39.7 million, still a big jump from last year’s 14.8 million units. Component shortages, the quake in Japan and some more problems seem to have been overcome, but as the product becomes available worldwide, supplies will be an issue.

Apple managed the Japan crisis correctly, sending managers there days after the quake, in order to settle the future shipments and cooperation. With products like the Motorola Xoom and BlackBerry PlayBook getting poor reviews, we don’t see any real challenger for the iPad 2 right now…
