The figures are in, for the Indian tablet market, where Lenovo remains market leader. The whole tablet market grew by 6% in Q3 2018 and Lenovo has a 22% share on that market. The company leads the pack, after registering a 6% growth in Q3 compared to the previous quarter.

The Indian tablet market got 0.83 million slate units shopped in Q3 2018, according to the CyberMedia Research “Tablet PC Market Report Review”. Lenovo is on the first position in the Indian tablet market and most of their tablets sold are 4G or 3G models. The Tab 4 series had the highest sales in Q3 2018. Second placed after Lenovo comes iBall, with a 16% share and Samsung is third, with 15%.

Datawind is fourth with 14%. Samsung registered a decline in position, because they kept using the same strategy for a few quarters now. Lenovo dominated the market on account of the demand from the educational and financial services sectors. iBall has become stronger in the retail market, it seems. Apple debuted its sixth gen Pad in the last quarter and achieved a 51% growth over the same time frame.

4G tablet shipment also grew by 47% sequentially in Q3 and the 4G market will expand further to 60% of the whole market. It’s not very clear which price tiers of devices got better sales, but I’m betting on lower end ones with 4G.
