As you probably know already, Apple is preparing to unveil its very own mapping service/technology at WWDC 2012, in an attempt to get rid of Google Maps on iOS. Screenshots of the app have already leaked online, but don’t count this one as a defeat for Google, since they’ve got something up their sleeve.

On June 6th, the search engine giant has scheduled a Maps-related event, probably to show Apple what they’re missing by giving up their services. This will be a morning event and give the press a behind the scenes look at Google Maps and “share the vision”. The search engine giant is expected to demo its latest technology and offer a sneak peek at upcoming features, that will allow people to reach destinations faster and in a more efficient way.

This will be an invitation-only press event, where Brian McClendon, VP of Google Maps and Google Earth will provide the demo that everyone wants to see. Meanwhile, WWDC starts on June 11th and will certainly include a detailed unveiling of iMaps, or whatever they’ll call it. I wonder which service’s 3D graphics will look better…
