While we’re still waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 slates to come to all major markets, those in need of a strong Android tablet from 2015 will be happy to know there’s a new alternative in town. It’s one of the many ZenPads announced earlier this summer, probably the best specced one: ASUS ZenPad S 8.0.
This slate is a 7.9 incher, codenamed Z580CA and it comes with a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, as well as a quad core Intel Atom Z3580 64 bit processor. The slate did appear on Best Buy a month ago, but in a lower end version, the Z580C. Now we get all the goods, like 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, a microSD card slot, plus an 8 megapixel back camera and a front 5 MP selfie shooter.
ASUS also promotes the device’s premium look and feel, that’s supposedly inspired by the world of fashion. We get a diamond hairline pattern at the back and with it there’s also a metallic finish. All of that is crammed within a 6.6 mm thick chassis and it all weighs 298 grams. And then there are the appealing accessories, like the ASUS Z Stylus, or various covers.
The price is $299 and the product can be found on Amazon, Newegg and the ASUS Online Store. Keep in mind this model also has an USB Type C port.
