ASUS debuted a new laptop this week, the ASUS E406MA, which is an affordable machine with an Intel Gemini Lake CPU inside. It’s a 2.9 pound laptop that has a pretty generous 56 Wh battery that should offer up to 14 hours of battery life for web browsing.
The product has already been listed by a bunch of Canadian retailers, at around $399. That price tag applies in Canada for now, so it could be different in Europe or USA. The product packs a 1920 x 1080 pixel display, with a 14 inch diagonal. Inside the laptop there’s an Intel Pentium Silver N5000 CPU, 4 GB of DDR4 RAM and 64 GB of eMMC storage. The ASUS website also mentions other versions, including one with 2 GB of RAM and storage versions of 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.
There’s also a choice of Windows 10 S or Windows 10 Home. Each of those models comes with a USB Type-A port of the 3.1 variety, plus a microSD card slot and webcam. The device has pretty slim bezels, considering the price segment. ASUS E406MA comes in gray, white and blue and it also offers fast charging, as the battery goes from zero to 60% in just 49 minutes.
This is basically a lighter and cheaper Vivobook of sorts, especially judging by the design.
