Alcatel has been doing fine ever since it was taken over by TCL and it kept operating both in the entry level area and in the higher end one. Usually they launch quite a few new devices at MWC or CES 2017 and even bet on Windows Mobile at some point. Now they have a tablet ready to debut on T-Mobile.

The device is dubbed Alcatel A30, which coincidentally is also the name of an Alcatel phone priced at just $99. The A30 tablet is basically a king size version of the A30 phone, with Android Nougat and an 8 inch screen, that offers a 1200 x 800 pixel resolution. It also keeps the Snapdragon 210 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, plus it brings two 5 MP cameras, one at the front, one at the back.

Alcatel also included the IR blaster in the package, by the way, which lets you control TV sets and set top boxes. There’s also a SIM card slot here and 4G connectivity is very likely to appear among the specs. Alcatel A30 will be made available on T-Mobile exclusively from May 26th and odds are that it will cost a bit more than the phone, maybe around $120 or $130.

It’s a nice thing to have if you want web browsing and maybe some TV shows on the go.
