AIMobile is a joint venture made by Inventec and Advantech, an industrial computing solution provider and the resulting firm is going to focus on customized wireless industrial slates for Internet of Things.
The info comes from Inventec chairman, Richard Lee and AIMobile comes with an initial capital of $31.3 million, as Inventec gets 55% of the business and Advantech 45%. Wireless industrial tablets will be the focus of the firm, but also software and support services. These products are meant for in-vehicle medical care, as well as retail and field use in “rugge areas”.
POS models will be provided first in Q4 this year and AIMobile is gunning for revenues of around $30 million for this year and $50 million for 2018. I also expect them to be getting into the automotive biz soon, since there’s a demand for tablets there as well.
