In the middle of April we informed you that Acer Iconia 500 and the A100 would be getting the Android 4.0 ICS update on April 27th. That date passed and especially the Acer Iconia Tab A100 owners in the USA must’ve been pissed, since they were the favourites to receive it. Well, it’s only now that the rollout has begun, so owners of the slate must feel lucky.
Canada was also supposed to get the update on May 5th, but I guess they’re also getting it later. The Acer Iconia Tab A200 already has the new Android, according to the Acer website. We have no idea when the A501 model will have its turn at the software, but if you know something, feel free to drop us a line in the comments section. And once again I wonder: why don’t the Samsung Galaxy Tab units and the Motorola Xoom 2 ones finally get ICS?! Yes, I know that Samsung promised Android 4.0 for this quarter for its Tabs, but will they handle that?
ASUS delivered so far, Acer is starting to and Motorola only updated the Xoom, pretty early actually. Samsung has yet to make a move in the world of tablets, which is a huge disappointment since they’re one of the biggest sellers of tablets after Apple and Amazon. I have a feeling that if Amazon was given the option to update, they would have done it faster…
