PC gamers may not have to wait as long as Rockstar’s release history suggests for Grand Theft Auto VI. Andy Robinson of VGC has said there are indications that a PC version could arrive “sooner than some people expect,” according to Notebookcheck. The claim remains unverified, with no release date or even a launch window attached to it.

Rockstar’s PC gaps set a long-wait expectation

Rockstar has typically brought its biggest games to PC after their console debuts. Grand Theft Auto V launched on consoles in September 2013 and reached PC in April 2015, a gap of roughly 19 months. Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived on consoles in October 2018, followed by its PC edition in November 2019, just over a year later.

Applying those prior intervals to GTA 6 would point to a PC launch somewhere between late 2027 and mid-2028. The new rumor is notable specifically because it suggests Rockstar could shorten that pattern, though there is no indication of by how much.

A faster port would still face the usual PC challenges

Former Rockstar producer John Ricchio has recently described the studio’s console-first approach: fixed PlayStation and Xbox hardware gives developers a defined target before they must account for the far broader range of PC components and configurations. Higher console prices may make a quicker PC release commercially appealing, but they would not remove the work of optimizing such a large game across PC hardware.

For now, the only official GTA 6 release plan is November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not listed a PC version or announced timing for one. Until it does, this is an encouraging but unconfirmed signal for players hoping to run the next Grand Theft Auto on a gaming laptop, desktop, or other PC setup.
