The Tablet Mac Project has produced a very interesting gizmo, that you can see below. Using an old MacBook, a brand new Apple tablet was created. Afterwards, the creator of this gadget Frankenstein, found a 13.3 inch resistive touchscreen, a new battery and cables for backlight, video out and iSight.
The project also involved using a special app and a script to support the touchscreen keyboard. As the process of creating the slate went on, the iSight wouldn’t fit in the frame and the display cable risked being damaged in the process. When everything was done, the touchscreen had response issues and a name even popped up for the resulting device: Maclet.
