RIM is surely preparing something big for next week, with speculations going as far as saying that we’ll see the BlackBerry tablet taking off on Monday. Financial analyst Jeffrey Fidacaro, from Susquehanna Research claims he’s found that Research in Motion is preparing to make 2.5 million slate units for Q4. Supposedly dubbed the BlackPad, this tablet might change the game and rival the iPad, that has already sold 3.27 million units in its first quarter.
As far as the BlackBerry tablet launch is concerned, RIM has a developer conference scheduled on Monday, so that might be the time to introduce the new gizmo. What do we know about the BlackPad? It’s a 7 inch capacitive touch tablet, with WiFi, Bluetooth and dual cameras. Its 3G connectivity will be provided by a BlackBerry smartphone and the device will most likely lack 3G connectivity.
Who would want a companion device for a BlackBerry? That’s the main question that RIM has to answer… If the price is right, the answer will be positive.
