A report originating from ZDNet Korea claims that Samsung has increased its tablet market share to 23% in the first quarter this year. Unnamed senior executives from the Korean company revealed that the firm shipped 14 million slates during Q1.
The sales number is higher than the one from the previous quarter by about 200k units, which is basically a surprise, because that was the holiday quarter. Of course there’s a logical reason for the increase: the introduction of the Galaxy Tab Pro lineup and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 in January at CES.
Back in 2013 Samsung moved a total of 40 million tablets and we’re pretty sure they’ll increase that amount this year. Right now Apple dominates the tablet segment with 30%, but Samsung is close behind with 23%. Sammy has huge expectations for 2014, aiming to sell as many as 100 million tablets.
