Samsung finally announced the Galaxy Tab 3, but only the 7 inch version for now, while the 8 incher remains in standby, after being leaked recently. The Galaxy Tab 3 packs a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 8 or 16 GB of storage and looks pretty basic, as far as design goes.

It looks very much like the Galaxy Note 8.0 and it’s a slightly curved slab of plastic material. It packs a 3 megapixel cam at the back and incorporates a front 1.3 megapixel shooter, while under the hood we’ll find a 4,000 mAh battery. The 7 inch 1024 x 600 pixel TFT display rests upfront and the device runs Android 4.1 with the TouchWiz experience on top.

This model will be launched globally in May, at least in the wiFi version. There will also be a 3G model coming in June, but no LTE love for now. Samsung claims that the Galaxy Tab 3 has a smaller bezel than Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and that it has great grip and one hand use. I’m curious what type of dual core CPU rests inside… maybe a Cortex A15?
