The Bluetooth SIG recently gave its blessing to a new Samsung tablet model, dubbed SM-T311. It appears that this will be the WiFi only version of the yet unannounced Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, while the 3G model is the SM-T310.
We’ve been hearing about such tablets for a long while now, with the Galaxy Tab 3 rumored ahead of MWC 2013, but not even delivering a single model at the show. Just days ago, the Wall Street Journal came up with hints that the Tab 3 8.0 will be officially announced in June, which is one month before the Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy S4 Mini debut on the market.
The codename SM-T311 seems to indicate an European release for some reason, but I’m sure we’ll also see this model in North America and Asia. If you ask me, this product may cannibalize the Galaxy Note 8.0 a bit, since they have similar diagonals and probably not so different prices. The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is expected to come in white, run Jelly Bean and support a 1280 x 800 pixel res. It will also have a quad core CPU and a very slim waistline, at 6.95 mm.
