When you hear your own partner badmouthing you, what can you do? That’s the question Microsoft must ask itself the next time it analyses a partnership initiative with Acer. Recently, during an interview Acer CEO and chairman JT Wang had some harsh words regarding Microsoft’s Surface Tablet.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Wang criticized the Redmond giant’s choice to manufacture its own Surface slate with Win 8 or Windows RT. He also warns MS to think this over, saying that the product will create a huge negative impact for the ecosystem and other brands may react in a negative way to this device. Previously, Acer’s founder Stan Shih criticized Microsoft’s hardware intentions, saying that he thinks that Surface is just a way to encourage other hardware makers to create Windows 8 tablets.

Even MS admitted that the Surface tablets could affect relationships with OEMs, but they’ll keep their plans intact, even it means losing partners. HP already withdrew from the Windows RT plans and if this keeps up, Acer won’t be making Windows 8 tablets any more. Seeing how the quality of their Android tablets is poor, I don’t know what else Acer can do to survive on the tablet market…
