ASUS may be vocal when it comes to major updates such as the one to Android 4.0 for the Transformer Prime, but when it’s all about fixing bugs and error they tiptoe around announcements… or maybe it’s just me being evil. The Asian company has just provided an OTA solution for the GPS problems of the tablet, through an update.

The same new software makes the slate reach GPS version 6.9.13, fixing its issues… hopefully. The guys at the XDA Developers forums have found that this release unroots the tablet, but that’s easy to restore if you’re accustomed to it. Engadget’s tests are very positive till now and they managed to detect 12 satellites on a just rebooted Prime, all of that in-doors and with usually bad GPS reception. I’m pretty confused now… wasn’t all that fuss about the Transformer Prime connectivity and GPS problems caused by design/hardware problems? How come it’s fixed by software?

Well, at least we have an update that didn’t make things worse, like it happened with the Nokia Lumia 800 and iPhone 4S, both with updates that the users considered useless, since they damaged the battery life further. With Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich installed and this beautiful update, the Prime is looking great right now, but a $50 price decrease would be welcome…
