In a move that surprises everyone, Sharp announced that it plans to stop making PCs, focusing on tablets instead. They’re specially referring to the Galapagos series e-readers and slates, since the tablet segment is predicted to grow significantly in 2011. The new Galapagos products are supposed to go live in Japan by the year end, possibly in December.

Ultra compact devices will still be made by Sharp, including Netwalker devices and this stoppage is by no means permanent, as the company itself claims. What you can see in the image above is the traditional design of the Sharp Mebius netbook series, the Mebius NJ70A to be more precise. It sports an LCD touchscreen trackpad.
