Toshiba is all about mobile device technology at CES 2016 and aside from slates they also unveiled accessories, like a series of external hard drives and flash drives that make use of USB Type C connectivity.
They’re meant to connect to tablets and mobile devices and provide extra storage space. The brand new Canvio Premium portable HDD and Toshiba Transmemory EX Dual come with the new type of connector, which means they’re compatible with the latest laptops, tablets, convertibles and smartphones. Canvio Premium comes with capacities of up to 3 TB and this external HDD is compatible with both USB 3.0 and USB Type C ports, thanks to a bundled adapter.
Canvio Premium is priced at $84 for the 1 TB unit, $129 for the 2 TB model and $159 for the 3 TB one. Transmemory EX Dual is a 32 GB flash drive, with an USB Type A connector and an USB Type C one as well. It lets you move files from portable devices that have either of those connectivity options. Toshiba said that the drive provides read and write speeds of up to 95 MB/s and 80 MB/s respectively.
The price of the accessory is $39.
