CES 2017: Toshiba’s Portege X20W is a 2 in 1 Convertible With Windows 10, 360 Degree Dual Action Hinge
It appears that convertibles able to rotate are all the rage this week at CES 2017, since quite a few companies are unveiling such products. Not only Lenovo and Dell make the cut, but also Toshiba, with its brand new Portege X20W, a 2 in 1 convertible with Windows 10 and a 360 degree rotating hinge.
This is pushed as a premium model, relying on Windows 10 Pro and featuring a dual action hinge, that transforms the notebook into a digital inking tablet by simply rotating the screen. The whole thing measures 15.4 mm in thickness and weighs less than 2.5 pounds. Portege X20W brings a battery good enough for 16 hours of usage and it’s meant for mobile professionals or students.
Multi directional mics have been included, in order to catch everything you say to Cortana, while IR cameras will let you login in easily via Windows Hello. Then there’s a fingerprint scanner for extra security and Windows Ink for proper pen interaction. Making the slate tick is a 7th gen Intel Core processor and specs include a 12.5 inch Full HD multi touch wide view screen, as well as a solid state drive.
We’ve got a magnesium casing in the mix and a total of 5 viewing modes available: laptop, tablet, tabletop, presentation and audience. On the connectivity front there’s an USB Type C port, USB 3.0, Thunderbolt 3 and of course WiFi. Toshiba also throws in a TruPen stylus with Wacom tech. Availability will be announced soon on Microsoft’s Store site.
