Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has finally started receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in Russia today. This means that we should expect global rollout to come by the end of the week. Somehow, the 2013 slate managed to beat the Note 4 to the Lollipop arrival.

You can get the required firmware from here, but I’m not sure it works for every version of the Note 3, so be wary. There’s also some flashing required, so be sure to backup everything. Anyway, the update brings Material Design to the phablet and also adapts TouchWiz better to the large screen, since apparently it wasn’t optimized well enough. Other improvements are the speed increase, better battery management and general performance enhancements.

The Android 5.0 update will also bring some of the Galaxy Note 4 features to the Note 3, like improved multi window support. You can keep the Note 3 connected to a WiFi network these days and check out the Settings/About Phone/Software update menu constantly to get the new release, or use the link above and flash manually.
