Apple iPad OS, Not Finished?

Although the initial hype surrounding the Apple iPad Tablet was huge, after Steve Jobs finished his presentation, some were left with a bitter taste that something was missing. Is this all? I mean, yes, it’s a new product, but the software is the same as the one on the iPhone, with a better resolution… or is it?

Apple said nothing about notifications on the iPad, nor did he talk about multitasking and also seems to rush over some aspects of their presentation. Does this mean that there’s more to be revealed? Odds are that what we saw running on the iPad was iPhone OS 3.2, rumoured to be the next update for the iPhone.

However, one could see the 4.0 version surfacing before the “late March” release date of the non 3G iPad unit. It’s possible that the new software includes multitasking, a new notifications system and a lot more, available on both the iPad and iPhone. Should we wait for the upgrade before criticizing the product?

iPhone OS 4.0 to be Launched Today?

Odds are that the Apple Tablet launch today will also include the launch of iPhone OS 4.0, the platform supposed to run on the new Apple device. Of course, the instant the 4.0 version will hit developers, they’ll start dissecting it, looking for clues regarding the hardware of the iPhone 4G or even more details about the tablet.

Speculations claim that the Apple iPad might even run something else than iPhone OS 4.0, like the unreleased 3.2 version of some new version of Mac OS, customized for the device. What we’d like on the 4.0 version? A lot of things: multitasking, a to do list to sync with Outlook and better app organization.

Apple Paints Yerba Buena Center Ahead of January 27th Tablet Launch

As you can see in the following images, Apple is readying the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco for the big event tomorrow, the supposed launch of the Apple iPad Tablet. Notice that the colours and banners have a similar design to the pattern on the press announcement and invitations.

The images were made available via Flickr and MacRumor and we remind you (for the hundredth time, maybe) that tomorrow, January 27, at 10 am PST, Apple will unveil something groundbreaking. Haven’t heard that in a while, have you? It might be the Apple Tablet, it might be iPhone OS 4.0, maybe even details about the iPhone 4G… who knows?

We’ll keep you posted, as soon as we get new info on the event.

Steve Jobs Excited About the Apple Tablet; Says so Himself

It’s rare to get Steve Jobs excited over anything, since he’s launched some of the most important gadgets in modern history, but it seems that the Apple Tablet got to him. Sources close to Jobs claim that he was overheard saying that the Apple iPad “will be the most important thing” he’s ever done.

Multiple sources are confirming this info, like senior Apple execs and Steve’s friends, so this means that the big boss is pretty excited about the new product. We remind you that Apple is supposed to announce the device on Wednesday, January 27th, in San Francisco (Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater) together with iPhone OS 4.0.

We’re also pleased by the fact that we’ll most likely see Steve Jobs back on the stage,  holding his keynote in his typical way.

Apple iPad Gets Pictured Again; Genuine Apple Tablet Image?

Here comes the third image of the supposed Apple Tablet, lately dubbed the iPad, after some snooping around patents and trademarks. We can’t tell if the photo is real or not, but it certainly seems genuine, although we have to say yet again that this tablet looks like an oversized iPhone.

Its back side is all aluminum, there’s a 10 inch display on board and a Home button at the side of the device. A huge iPhone… let’s see how this plays out for Apple, specially if the cool new iPhone OS 4.0 is on board and the many App Store programmes are compatible with the iPad.

Apple Tablet Leaks Continue; Yet Another Picture of the 10 Inch Screen

Today’s hot news was all about the leaked image showing the Apple Tablet’s 10 inch display and the pic seems to have a follow-up, that you can check out below. The mystery source leaking the images claims that this is the glass to be used for Apple’s iPad/iSlate device, supposedly launched next week.

The shape of the glass reminds us of an iPhone and we rule out the possibility of an oversized iPhone screen picture, because the piece is shown on top of a MacBook Pro’s keyboard. Take this yet again with a grain of salt, because it could still be a fake. We remind you that Apple is holding a media event on January 27th, in San Francisco, probably to showcase iPhone OS 4.0 and maybe its tablet.
