Apple iPad Production to Increase, Cupertino Tries to Meet Demand

In spite of the rich tablet offering spotted at IFA 2010, Apple will still have to up the iPad production, in order to meet demand. Analyst Katy Huberty from Morgan Stanley claims that the Cupertino giant will have to increase the production of its slate up to 3 million units per month, in order to keep the public satisfied and get enough units for the holiday season.

This means quite an increase when compared to the 2 million units per month that Apple is already making. Experts estimate that Apple could sell 10 million iPads this year alone, which is an extremely impressive feat for any device out there. Will any other tablet be able to reach the same figure over the following 3-4 years?

Apple iPad Triples European Slate Sales

The Apple iPad might be the most famous tablet out there, but it’s also solid gold for the whole slate segment, at least in Europe. According to trend watcher Context Research, the iPad alone tripled European tablet sales, resulting in a 257% market boost. Introduced in late May, the device sold hundreds of thousands of units in the first weeks after its launch in Europe.

Worldwide shipments of the slate are likely to reach 8.13 million by the end of the year, according to experts. However, we don’t know how long Apple will keep this up, considering the numerous rival products, with very varied choices, as far as processors, operating systems and hardware specs are concerned.

In Asia, for example, we see a tablet or two launched each day, as the local companies try to fight off the Apple domination.

Apple iPad Selling 1.2 Million Units Per Month

DigiTimes analyst Kuo Ming-Chi recently claimed that Apple has reached a new performance, shipping around 1.2 million iPads per month. The expert also mentioned that monthly shipments could reach 2.5 million units by the year end. Such figures were obtained from the iPad supply-chain manufacturer, LG.

The company shipped between 800,000 and 900,000 9.7 inch LCD displays to the Cupertino giant in May. Ming-Chi estimated that Apple has to pay around $80 to $90 per unit. Keep in mind that these are all estimates and predictions, so this is not the official version of the story.

Assuming the sold iPads are the 16GB WiFi versions, they’ll bring around $1.25 billion in gross sales every month, which is huge.

Apple Sells Two Million iPads in Under 2 Months

Apple has just announced officially its sales figures for the shiny new iPad tablet and we have to say we’re pretty impressed with their numbers. Less than 60 days from the device’s debut, it sold 2 million units, topping any expectation and prediction. We remind you that the tablet was launched in the US on April 3rd.

Last we heard about it, the device sold over 1 million units, a piece of news that got public on May 3rd. Cupertino claims that there are still issues with meeting consumer demand, so Apple is barely handling the huge popularity of the product. This stock issue was the cause for the delay of the tablet’s international launch, that took place on May 28th.

What the fresh Apple announcement lacks is a number of iPad apps downloaded and iBooks titles purchased, updating the figures from last month. The iPad will be available in 9 more countries in July and many more during the year, so expect the number of sold units to increase greatly.

eBay Sells Over 5,300 iPad Units; UAE Buyers Most Generous

We know that Apple sold over 1 million iPad units in a month, but eBay has also done pretty good so far, with 5,300 units moved across the world. 65% were sold abroad and 35% in the US, according to the data published by eBay recently and covering the mid-March to mid-April time frame. UK dominates international sales, with 550 units sold, 15% of the total foreign sales.

However, it’s the buyers from the United Arab Emirates who are the most generous, when it comes to acquiring Apple’s latest toy, since they spent an extra $537 on average for the 64GB version of the tablet. Buyers in Greece paid $269 over the retail price for the 16GB version, while the Russian customers paid $306 for the 32GB model.

Europe is going pretty strong, as far as eBay sales are concerned, with 2,300 units purchased. The demand for the iPad via eBay will decrease, once Apple launches the device internationally on May 28th. Meanwhile, people are paying big bucks (even $900 for a 64GB WiFi iPad), just to get their devices earlier via eBay.

One Million iPads Sold in 28 Days! Tablet Beats iPhone

There’s a reason why Apple is now the biggest phone maker in the US and that is its huge sales, that also apply to the rest of its products. It took only 28 days for the Cupertino giant to sell 1 million iPads, a feat achieved by the iPhone in 74 days. The one milionth tablet was sold on Friday, 28 days after the introduction of the device on April 3.

Meanwhile, owners of these units have already downloaded over 12 million apps from the App Store. 1.5 million ebooks have also been dowloaded and things are going great for Apple, with demand exceeding supply right now. What is it with Apple’s products, that sell so well? Could it be the 10 hours battery life, in the case of the iPad? Or the intuitive interface? Perhaps the huge number of apps?

Speaking of which, devs have created over 5,000 applications for the iPad till now, while the rest of the software available on the iPhone will be available on the tablet too (almost all apps).

300,000 iPads Sold Since Saturday, Apple Has Nice Easter

Apple has just announced officially that it has sold over 300,000 iPad units since Saturday (midnight). While analysts like Gene Munster predicted around 700,000 devices sold, the figure is still pretty impressive and hard to reach, for the likes of JooJoo and HP Slate. We have to mention that this figure refers to the entire batch of sales, including pre-orders, Apple Store and partner sales.

Steve Jobs also announced that iPad users download over 3 apps on average in the hours following the product’s launch. Also, they downloaded almost a book (on average) after purchasing the tablet. Quite a source of revenue, right?

Apple iPad Preorders Shipping NOW; Earlier Than Expected

Monday is everyone’s least favourite day of the week, but it seems that this Monday is something special. We’re talking about the fact that the iPad units that were preordered have started being shipped to their owners. Twitter reports have shown that many folks have already received shipping notices for their tablets, ahead of the device’s April 3rd debut.

Easter bunny or April’s Fools, we’re certainly glad to hear this… Also, you should know that there’s a rumour going around saying that the Apple had no less than half a mil iPad units pre-ordered so far, most of them WiFi versions of the device. This huge success made the Cupertino giant push the expected shipping date for new online orders to April 12th, in case you want to jump on the iPad train just now.

iPad magazines screenshots have started to leak, some apps with the “HD” mark next to them as well and we’re betting that we’ll see an unboxing of the device by the end of the week.
