HP Slate Specs Leak, Pricing Too; Slate vs iPad Comparison Available
Apr 8, 2010 HP
We’ve just managed to score the full list of HP Slate specs, plus a pricing and even a comparison chart between the two. Apparently, the leak was due to HP employees, who leaked an internal Slate presentation that compared the device to the iPad, as you can see below. The device will cost $549, in the 32GB flash storage version, or $599 in the 64GB version.
HP’s new product comes with a 8.9 inch 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive multitouch display, a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor with UMA graphics, 1GB RAM (no upgrades available) and an accelerator for 1080p video playback. There’s also an SDHC card slot on board, two cameras, a SIM card slot, an USB port, a dock connector (power, audio and HDMI out) and the tablet will run Windows 7 Home Premium.
All of these are unofficial details, but, as you can see in the image above, the HP Slate is better than the iPad in many areas, specially as far as processing power, the number of ports and cameras are concerned. Which one will get more sales before the year end?

HP Slate, the iPad Rival With Full Microsoft Support
Feb 23, 2010 HP
When Microsoft and HP work together to compete against Apple, hell breaks loose and we’ve got a product that could destroy the iPad. We’re talking about the HP Slate, shown by Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer at CES 2010. Apparently, the product will come with a low price point and it could run Windows 7, while also supporting a cellular connection.
Rumour has it that this device could even be cheaper than the $630 equivalent from Apple and if multitasking is also a go, count us in as HP Slate fans. Meanwhile, Dell has some plans of its own, but involving a small tablet, with a 5 inch display, while Asus and MSI haven’t talked about their similar products just yet.
Acer also wants a slice out of this emerging segment, but for now only HP shows promise, as far as defeating the iPad is concerned. In the end, it’s more of a battle between Windows 7 and iPhone OS, since the specs of the tablets can’t be that different.
