Interpark Biscuit 3G E-reader Available in Korea

E-book readers launched in Asia have the habit of coming out with weird names and this is also the case of the Biscuit, an e-reader made by Interpark. The latter is an important Korean shopping company and we learn that the 3G device is similar to the Amazon Kindle, but it sports a different keyboard layout, with the core navigation buttons below the display.

Biscuit supports downloads for ebooks and newspapers, it packs a 6 inch E-ink 600 x 800 pixel display, showing 8 levels of grayscale and its specs list also includes 4GB of internal memory. There’s also a battery on board, that’ll last for up to 9,000 page turns, maybe with the wireless turned off.

Among the supported formats on this e-book reader we spotted: Adobe PDF, MS Office (doc, ppt, xls etc), TXT, BMP, JPG, MP3 and many more. Interpark Biscuit is on sale in Korea right now, for $350 and about 25,000 titles are available on it.

Samsung Unveils E6 and E101 Ebook Readers, Complete With WiFi and Bluetooth

Samsung has just announced a couple of new Ebook readers, the E6 and the E101 models, sporting WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. Samsung E6 comes with a 6 inch E-ink display, while the E101 features a 10 inch screen, both being touch models that work with a stylus.

Samsung is also working with Google to deliver ebook content on these two devices, probably using the titles taken from Google Books. Each of these readers comes with a slide-down panel, that hides the navigation and menu controls, plus stereo speakers. A single battery charge will make the E6 and E101 work for about two weeks, probably with the wireless deactivated.

Expect the products to hit the market in early 2010, with the Samsung E6 priced at $399 and the E101 going for $699.

ASUS Prepares an E-book Reader With WiMAX, 3G and WiFi on Board

ASUS has just confirmed that it’ll be launching an e-reader in March 2010 and that the device will come with support for WiMAX, 3G and WiFi. Said product will be shipped to carriers all across the US and Europe starting March and we also learn that the E-book reader will be competitively priced, in order to rival Amazon and Sony’s offers.

Last we heard, ASUS was preparing two differently-sized devices of this kind, one sporting a 6 inch e-ink display, while the other packs a 9 inch panel. It seems that the company will be trialling the devices with Taiwanese charities before making them available commercially.

It’s quite strange to see WiMAX connectivity on an e-reader, since we wouldn’t need that much speed for basic browsing and downloading new e-books, right?
