Dell Streak (Dell Mini 5) Gets Reviewed (Video)

After months of speculations and Dell’s CEO showing up with the device in hand, Dell Streak aka Dell Mini 5 has finally been video reviewed. We have the clip below as proof and we have to remind you that the device is coming to the UK, at O2 stores in June. This touchscreen tablet sports a 5 inch display (WVGA capacitive touchscreen) and it can even be used as a phone.

Dell Streak’s phone features derive from the fact that it supports 3G, WiFi, Bluoetooth, UMTS/GPRS/EDGE class 12 GSM radio with transfer speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps (HSDPA). The reviewer mentions that in no way this is a one-handed operation device and it can’t be considered a smartphone, in spite of it being smaller than the standard tablet.

We also have to mention that although Streak will be released with Android 1.6, it’ll get the 2.2 Froyo upgrade by the end of the current year. Also, the OS will be paired with a custom UI, it’ll support Adobe Flash Player and make good use of the 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. More impressions on the interface and features can be found in the video above.

CES 2010: Dell Reveals Android Tablet Details

Dell’s Streak tablet is yet to be announced, but we got some pretty interesting details @ CES 2010, regarding the 5 inch device. Apparently, the PC maker might call it a Mini, just like its phone and the folks of Engadget speculated on the name “Mini 5″, that would certainly make sense.

According to the people who played with the tablet, Dell’s new product has a nice keyboard, includes a numpad on the right (in landscape mode) and we learn that the device runs Android 1.6, although we hope for an upgrade before it’s sold officially. There’s also a front-facing camera on board, capacitive multitouch support and more.

In the image above you can see the numpad we’ve mentioned before, which is a cool addition to regular virtual QWERTY keyboards.

Lately we’ve been distracted from the Apple Tablet rumours by Dell’s Android Tablet, that’s bigger than a smartphone and packs the features of a regular netbook. The gadget is meant to see the light of day at CES 2010 in January and all chances are that this is in fact the Dell Streak tablet we’ve seen a couple of months ago.

Dell’s upcoming device features a 5 inch touchscreen and it should be available in the UK starting 2010. Dell Streak is a 3G Android MID, meant to hit AT&T in 2010 and also packing a 5 inch touch display. Are the two devices one and the same or different?

They might as well be different versions of the same tablet…
