Asus Eee Top PC ET2010PNT Gets Detailed
Jan 17, 2010 Almost a tablet, Asus
Asus had a bunch of pretty cool products to showcase during CES 2010 and among them there was the neat Waveface concept, but also this all in one PC, pictured below. Dubbed the ET2010PNT, this device is supposed to pack a carbon fibre style stand, that supports the monitor.
There’s also a 20 inch screen on board, with a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels and Windows 7, plus an Atom D510 dual core processor and an Nvidia Ion 2 graphics solution. The latter makes this the first device to use Nvidia’s new platform and get pictured in 2010.
The above-mentioned display supports multi-touch and maybe even gesture support, if we are to speculate. Asus Eee Top PC ET2010PNT also uses a HDMI output, plus a DVI and an optional display/port output. No info on the price and launch date just yet.

CES 2010: Asus Eee PC Touch Series Tablet Goes Stealth, Unnoticed?
Jan 14, 2010 Asus
Although CES 2010 ended 3 days ago, somehow everyone managed to miss the interesting Asus Eee PC Touch Series tablet, probably being distracted by the company’s Waveface concept or the Bang & Olufsen laptop. Although the tablet wasn’t announced it was on show during CES, but at the Nvidia stand, being described as the “Asus Eee PC Touch Series”, based on Tegra 2.
Too bad we can’t tell if this is a functional unit or a mockup, but odds are that the slate will get more detailed during MWC 2010. Also, the reason for the lack of interaction with the device is the fact that Nvidia kept it in a glass case with a bunch of other Tegra 2-based devices.
The lack of an Asus press release might indicate that this was a mockup after all, but at least we know they’re moving in the right direction. A video of the tablet is shown below, but don’t expect any action from it:

CES 2010: MSI Demos 10 inch Android Tablet, Based on Tegra 2
Jan 12, 2010 MSI
Tegra 2 must have been the “hidden star” of the CES 2010 tech show, since it showed up on quite a bunch of portable devices, tablets mainly. MSI’s latest 10 inch Android tablet is no exception and the device pictured below is also based on Nvidia’s brainchild.
The device packs a 10 inch capacitive display, that’s pretty responsive and as far as the design is concerned, the tablet is quite thick and heavy, a bit too much for our liking.
This may mean that there’s a pretty resilient battery inside, but too bad that this is where the official specs list ends, for now.

CES 2010: Samsung SWD-M100 Mondi is One Hot MID
Jan 12, 2010 Samsung
Samsung Mondi (SWD-M100) further blurs the like between smartphone and MID, being a Windows Mobile Classic device, that sports WiMax radio. These feats make the Samsung handset a niche device, with pretty good specs: 4GB onboard storage, a microSD slot for more memory, 256MB RAM, a 3 megapixel camera, a sliding QWERTY keyboard and a big 4.3 inch WVGA screen.

CES 2010: Notion Ink Adam Dissected by Engadget
Jan 11, 2010 Tablet related
The lucky folks of Engadget had quite a lot of fun with Notion Ink’s Adam tablet, dissecting it and taking photos of its “guts”. Before ripping it open, they also tested the device, a pretty impressive Android tablet, packing a Pixel Qi display and based on the Tegra 2 platform. The product does 1080p playback smoothly, provides HDMI out functionality and should hit the market in Q2 2010.
Turns out that what you see in these images is a quick mockup of the final device, specially design-wise. Although this device seemed compact enough, we found out that the final version will be slimmed down to 14mm in thickness. As far as the Qi display is concerned, this technology allows the screen to function with the backlight off, turning it into a monochromatic version of its normal self.
Basically, the Adam is brilliant even in direct sunlight and there’s no place you can’t use this device at. What’s also neat about the Notion Ink product is its patented 3 megapixel swivel camera, supposed to come with augmented reality and educational features. Expect 3G, WiFi and a Notion Ink App Store to make it to this device as well, plus ePUB and other ebook formats support.

CES 2010: Cydle M7 Android Tablet, Packs a TV Tuner and a… Stand
Jan 11, 2010 Tablet related
We know that the definition of a tablet is pretty much cancelled by a stand, so the Cydle M7 Android tablet is a pretty original gadget, showcased at CES 2010 these days. Said stand allows the device to be viewed in either landscape or portrait mode, just like a very cool monitor would.
Cydle M7 packs a 7 inch resistive touchscreen display, it uses beta Android software, an ATSC TV tuner and it comes with a $199 price tag. Apparently, this product will be used as a PC monitor as well and we learn that it also features a 800 MHz ARM11 processor and it’ll be available starting this Spring.
Also, its stand can act as a protective cover for the device, when not in use.

CES 2010: Notion Ink Adam Tablet Hands on Experience Detailed
Jan 10, 2010 Tablet related
Notion Ink brought is cool Adam tablet at CES 2010, getting a lot of attention for the device, specially because it packs an Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset and it’s the first to use a Pixel Qi display. The folks of Slashgear got some quality time with the device and we had a look at their impressions in the following lines.
Keep in mind that this is a prototype and Adam’s casing is not in its final version/design. The final product will be only 14mm thick, or even 12mm, with a very tiny bezel and packing a 10.1 inch Pixel Qi transflective screen. This is a capacitive toucshcreen display, that can recognize 6 simultaneous points of contact.
The device supports WiFi and 3G and thanks to its Tegra 2 CPU, Adam is 1080p capable and there’s a HDMI port on board, ready to output video to a HDTV or a projector. Notion Ink’s Adam runs Android and the final version will sport an UI that brings with it a cool keyboard that’s very ergonomic for a large touchscreen.
Pixel Qi technology is basically a display that can be operated as a full color LCD indoors or as a low power reflective screen outdoors. The tablet also features an accelerometer and a new 3 megapixel camera with a “patented swivel action”. More details about the prototype, in the video below:

CES 2010: Freescale Shows New Tablet Design
Jan 10, 2010 Tablet related
CES 2010 goes on in Las Vegas, as we’ve just entered its last day and we learn that Freescale showcased a new device, supposed to come with “a tablet reference design”. Freescale Semiconductor created a new smartbook, featuring a 7 inch touchscreen display and using a form factor that’s one third the size and volume of a typical netbook.
It seems that the maker of this product is aiming for a less than $200 price tag and a form factor that will increase the power, performance and functionality of the device. This tablet uses the advanced ARM processor technology, instant-on functionality, persistent connectivity and its battery should be pretty impressive, too.
Freescale’s product was demoed @ CES 2010 running Android and Linux.

CES 2010: Alex E-book Reader Runs Android, Features Electronic Ink Tech, Secondary Touchscreen
Jan 10, 2010 E-Book Readers
The Alex E-Book reader was announced just a few days ago @ CES 2010 and it’s a very interesting evolution of device used for viewing electronic books. Its upper third incorporates a standard 6 inch electronic ink display, just like Amazon Kindle, while the bottom part features a 3.5 inch color touchscreen display, running Android 1.6.
Here’s the original e-reader in action, in the video below:
The two screens can be used together, in case you’re wondering, specially during web browsing. Thus, if you load a page on the Android browser, you can also view it on the electronic ink screen, in its larger version. Content is delivered to this device via Google Books and a Borders partnership.
Alex comes with WiFi, 2 GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot and support for open development. The gadget costs $400, in its WiFi enabled version, available starting February. There’s also a 3G version planned for the future.
