Apple iPad to Retail for EUR 499 in Germany, Rest of Europe, too?
Feb 1, 2010 Apple Tablet
Apparently, the very first prices of the European version of the Apple iPad have leaked, although they’re not quite legit. It seems that the new tablet will arrive in Europe with an EUR 499 price tag, as shown on T-Mobile Germany’s website. No trace of the prices now, since they were removed.
It’s pretty strange to think that the European prices for these devices are the same with the ones in the US, only in EURO, so this means that you’re losing money if you don’t buy them from the US. Take into account that the cheapest iPad (16GB) in the US will cost $499, while the European one costs EUR 499.
Do the math and remember that 1 dollar equals 0.71 EURO. Predictably enough, the 32GB version of the iPad retails for EUR 599, while the 64GB can be yours for 699 EUR. You might find these prices still posted on the German version of Amazon.

The Apple Tablet, Not the Answer to Everyone’s Prayers
Dec 31, 2009 Apple Tablet
Apple’s upcoming tablet might prove not to be the gadget freak’s wet dreams, as it seemed a couple of months ago, when it was more of a rumour than it is now. James Brehm, Frost & Sullivan analyst claims that there will be a strong interest in the device, but the tablet won’t be the wave of the future. The problem with this product is that it’s stuck inbetween smaller gadgets and full blown PCs.
Basically, what we’re dealing with here is a bigger iPod Touch, but one that’s better equipped for movie viewing, graphic design and Internet browsing. While many already call 2010 “the year of the tablet”, things may look up for this segment of products, but only for a couple of months and not years from now.
Just look at the netbooks, that were a huge hit in 2008 and then their sales started dropping, because smartphones got better and bigger, while laptops got cheaper. Another problem with the Apple Tablet is the fact that it’ll be quite pricey, at around $800 a piece, making it a niche product. The same analyst quoted above reminds us that there have been tablets before and we don’t see them flourishing or making huge sales.
Things will probably go as Steve Jobs planned, at least in the beginning: you know, everyone will buy the new cool thing with the Apple logo on it and in mid 2010, sales will start going down, as will the price and then we’ll see if the tablet can survive or not.

Apple Tablet to Kill Other Devices?
Nov 18, 2009 Apple Tablet
A recent article on CNN states why the upcoming Apple Tablet will be a game changer, killing most of the devices that have limited features on the modern market. Aside from being very cool, the fresh gadget from Cupertino could make a big splash by being priced the right way ($600 lowest price tag, but it can also go to $800 or $1000).
If we follow the latest rumours, this tablet will be able to do basically anything a portable console, e-reader, music and video player can do. Thousands of third party apps will make the gadget even more appealing and we wonder if it’ll be running Mac OS X or not. Specialists say that the tablet might sport a 10 inch to 12 inch screen and pack a high end graphics card that will provide a great multimedia and gaming experience.
Experts also expect Apple’s brainchild to be well connected via WiFi or 3G, maybe through an AT&T contract. A cool webcam should also make the cut and if we’re to take into account all the speculations, this device might as well replace your iPod, Kindle, PSP, Nintendo DS, portable video player and laptop. A full list of arguments can be found here.

Apple Tablet to Come as Two Different Models? Bootup Video Appears
Nov 10, 2009 Apple Tablet
We’re reviewing the rumours regarding Apple’s tablet and we’ve come across some pretty interesting info about the device. Also, there’s a probably fake video showing the supposed tablet made in Cupertino in action, but you can check it out below, if you want more proof:
Some even say that the Apple Tablet will come in two versions, one with educational purposes and one with a webcam on board. It also appears that the tablet packs an OLED screen, a 10 inch one, that’ll make it look like sort of a giant iPhone. A Gizmodo tipster even claims that he handled a mockup tablet of this kind and mentions it uses a Home button, just like the iPhone.
Even a price tag popped up, somewhere between $700 and $900 and the launch date could be either the holiday season in 2009, or the beginning of 2010. Since we’re talking about rumours, there’s always the bootup of the Apple tablet OS, that is apparently captured on camera below, if you believe it:

Apple Users Ready to Pay Up for Cupertino Tablet; PC Users… Not so Much
Oct 28, 2009 Apple Tablet
A recent study published by Retrevo shows that Mac users are willing to pay more for an Apple tablet than PC users. This info may seem a bit useless, specially since the device is yet to be announced, confirmed or specced. If you’re into numbers, 68% of respondents claimed that they’ll pay over $600 for the tablet, while a mere 36% PC owners said the same.
One shouldn’t be puzzled by the generosity of the Mac owners, since statistics have shown that they’re people with high incomes, plus they own and use more than one device. Apple has surely seen this study, so they might capitalize on the public’s desire for its new gadget and charge more than the Amazon Kindle or Barnes & Noble Nook.
The problem is that the Cupertino brains should rush to launch the product, since the studies have shown that 37% of Mac owners already own or intend to buy a netbook in 2009.
