Apple Tablet Will Run iPhone OS, Confirmed by McGraw-Hill CEO (Video)
Jan 27, 2010 Apple Tablet
Today is the big Apple Tablet launch day, as far as we’re concerned and although nobody from Apple confirmed it, other officials from third party companies did. One of them is McGraw-Hill’s CEO, who recently claimed in an interview with CNBC that his company’s textbooks will be on the Apple Tablet and that the device will run the iPhone OS.
He talks about these things in the video below (2m 50s):
The man claims that Apple will make the big announcement today and that his company has been working with the Cupertino firm for quite a while. Apparently, they’ll deliver e-books on the new platform, opening the tablet up for the “higher education market, the professional market”.
So… we expect the tablet not only to reach gadget freaks, but also students, colleges, hospitals, professors and other market segments.

Apple Paints Yerba Buena Center Ahead of January 27th Tablet Launch
Jan 26, 2010 Apple Tablet
As you can see in the following images, Apple is readying the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco for the big event tomorrow, the supposed launch of the Apple iPad Tablet. Notice that the colours and banners have a similar design to the pattern on the press announcement and invitations.
The images were made available via Flickr and MacRumor and we remind you (for the hundredth time, maybe) that tomorrow, January 27, at 10 am PST, Apple will unveil something groundbreaking. Haven’t heard that in a while, have you? It might be the Apple Tablet, it might be iPhone OS 4.0, maybe even details about the iPhone 4G… who knows?
We’ll keep you posted, as soon as we get new info on the event.

Apple Tablet aka iPad Mock Ad Revealed, Another Image Leaks
Jan 25, 2010 Apple Tablet
As we wait for the Apple Tablet/iPad to debut on Wednesday, January 27th, we’ve come across a mockup ad for the product, made by the folks of nowhereelse.fr. The clip pictures the tablet like shown in the image below and it’s pretty neatly put together, so it should make even the Apple PR department jealous:
Call it the iSlate, the Apple iPad, the MacTablet or the iTablet, one thing is for sure: this thing is coming in less than 48 hours and it’ll change the world. We’ve not Apple fanboys, but the excitement and hype that are building up have pretty good reasons this time. When was the last time you used a portable device with a single hand, had fun with a lightweight portable PC and a multitouch interface?
This tablet might as well kill the netbooks… In other news, beneath the video, there’s a fresh leaked image of the Apple iPad. Enjoy!

Apple Tablet Getting Tested Right Now; Flurry Has Proof
Jan 25, 2010 Apple Tablet
Flurry is a mobile app analytics company that has today’s scoop regarding Apple’s Tablet: it turns out that there are around 50 devices in Cupertino right now getting tested. By “devices” we mean Apple iPad units and Flurry found that a large number of apps have been downloaded on these, the majority of which were games, as you can see in the image below.
Flurry is a very reliable source on analytics data and when they usually have a story, it’s true and the facts are checked. We also learn that 140 of the tested programmes were games, followed by Entertainment, News and Books. We have to mention that these are iPhone apps we’re talking about, so the Apple Tablet will be compatible with these.
Also, the same analytics company noticed that Apple’s new device runs iPhone OS 3.2, not yet announced or available, but probably scheduled to debut on January 27th as well. Such tests are common for products about to be launched, so nothing unusual here, except for the joy of getting another confirmation of the device.

Steve Jobs Excited About the Apple Tablet; Says so Himself
Jan 25, 2010 Apple Tablet
It’s rare to get Steve Jobs excited over anything, since he’s launched some of the most important gadgets in modern history, but it seems that the Apple Tablet got to him. Sources close to Jobs claim that he was overheard saying that the Apple iPad “will be the most important thing” he’s ever done.
Multiple sources are confirming this info, like senior Apple execs and Steve’s friends, so this means that the big boss is pretty excited about the new product. We remind you that Apple is supposed to announce the device on Wednesday, January 27th, in San Francisco (Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater) together with iPhone OS 4.0.
We’re also pleased by the fact that we’ll most likely see Steve Jobs back on the stage, holding his keynote in his typical way.

Apple to Announce its Tablet on January 27th, Device Shipping in March; Devs Playing with Beta SDK
Jan 6, 2010 Apple Tablet
John Paczkowski from All Things D claims that Apple will announce a major product on Wednesday, January 27th and not the 26th, as we last heard. Also, French site Mac4Ever mentions that developers were given a chance to play with the iPhone OS 4 SDK, that allows them to reformat and scale apps for bigger screens (translation: tablets).
We’ve heard the theory regarding the iPhone apps also coming to the iSlate/Apple tablet, so this piece of info can only strengthen the theory. Also, the Wall Street Journal went out and published a piece on a “new multimedia tablet device” that will be launched later this month and it’ll feature a 10 or 11 inch touchscreen.
Shipment is mentioned to be scheduled for March and the product is supposed to redefine the way consumers interact with all sorts of content. WSJ strikes again!

Former Google Official Knows Something About the Apple Tablet Launch
Jan 6, 2010 Apple Tablet
Kai-fu Lee, the former head of Google’s China operations recently mentioned a couple of details regarding Apple’s upcoming tablet on his Chinese language blog. He claims that Steve Jobs will release the iSlate in January and 10 million units will be produced in the first year, according to the IDG News Service.
The list of details goes on, with the mention of the fact that the tablet will sport a 10.1 inch touchscreen display and it’ll look like a bigger iPhone. Among the features of the device there’s also a virtual keyboard, 3D graphics, videoconferencing support and e-book compatibility. Also, the price of the tablet will be kept under $1,000.
This info pretty much fits in with what we knew, the January 26th Apple event and San Francisco and all, although the size of the display is different from the one mentioned in the specs leaked a couple of days ago. Needless to say, these are rumours, so they must be taken with a grain of salt…

Apple Ready to Announce Tablet This Month, Product Shipped in March
Jan 5, 2010 Apple Tablet
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple will launch a new tablet device this month, with the shipping date being traced to somewhere in March, if everything goes as planned. The multimedia tablet made by Cupertino should feature a 10 to 11 inch touchscreen display and if you’re wondering if these are rumours or real info, know that people from within the company were cited.
We’ve heard the whole Apple tablet story long ago and speculations have been pouring in heavily lately, but finally we get some (almost) official word about it. Apple is planning to make an important announcement on January 27, during an event in San Francisco, probably the debut of said tablet. While the iPhone maker’s spokesmen refuse to comment, we know what’s coming and that the device will be priced between $500 and $1,000.
Meanwhile, all of the articles and rumours have given Apple’s shares a nice boost. The company’s stock value increased 1.6% and reached a closing of $214.01 yesterday. Now let’s see if this gadget makes it big, like the iPhone, or if it remains stuck in mediocrity, like some other overhyped products.
