Apple iPad Tablet Now Official, Complete With External Keyboard
Jan 27, 2010 Apple Tablet
Steve Jobs has come back to the stage after quite a long absence, only to reveal the product we were all waiting for: the Apple iPad Tablet. The device is pictured below and it’s as beautiful as we hoped, but it also comes with a few pleasant surprises. For starters, the iPad comes with a 9.7 inch LCD IPS multitouch display (1024 x 768 pixels), WiFi 802.11n and optional 3G connectivity.
Inside the device there’s a new 1GHz Apple A4 CPU, created by the Cupertino company, while storage ranges from 16GB to 32 or 64GB. The tablet’s battery should last about 10 hours in normal usage mode, or a month in standby mode and you’ll be able to recharge it via a 30 pin dock connector, also used for iTunes syncing.
There’s also a digital compass on board, an accelerometer and the display will show a virtual keyboard, as user-friendly as the one on the iPhone. iTunes syncing is supported, by hooking up the tablet to your PC or Mac, in order to synchronize media, apps, calendar entries, contacts and various other data.
The e-book reader side of the iPad is shown thanks to the iBooks service, a sort of “iTunes for books”, providing content from publishers like Penguin, HarperCollins, MacMillan and more. iWork is also on board, in a reworked version, including 3 new productivity apps: Numbers (spreadsheet), Keynote (presentations) and Pages (word processor).
The device will be available in three memory version, with the 16GB one retailing for $499, the 32GB one for $599 and the 64GB one for $699. Add an extra $130 to each of these, if you get them with the 3G connectivity included. AT&T will work with Apple yet again, selling the tablet bundled with a $14.99 data plan with 250MB traffic or a $29.99 unlimited data plan.
Apple also revealed official accessories for the iPad, like two docking stands, adapters and a cool new case. The most appealing of them is a dock sporting a physical QWERTY keyboard. Is this the gadget of the year, or are we hoping too much? Also, we’re the multitasking and iPhone OS 4.0?

Apple iPad Tablet is Real! Steve Jobs Unveiling it NOW!
Jan 27, 2010 Tablet related
We’re thrilled to announce that the Apple iPad Tablet is real, since it’s just been announced by Steve Jobs, during Apple’s official event. Emotions aside, this is truly a bigger iPhone, with a 9.7 inch multitouch capacitive display, 16, 32 or 64 GB of internal memory a 1 GHz Apple A4 chip on board.
The device supports Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, WiFi, it comes with an accelerometer, Mobile Safari, a compass, speaker and microphone. Of course, like we supposed, the iPad uses iPhone apps, it uses the iTunes and iPhoto services and it features a customizable Home screen. There’s also a screen locking mechanism on board, just like the one on the iPhone.
The virtual keyboard it shows is great, there’s also a cool email client on board, support for YOuTube HD, Google Maps and uber-cool videogaming. Of course, Flash is still lacking… Waiting for the prices and release dates, folks!

Apple Tablet (iPad/iSlate): The Definite Rumour List
Jan 27, 2010 Apple Tablet
3 hours or so left till the beast is launched… till Apple unleashes its monster product, apparently in development for 20 years or so. Yes, it’s the Apple Tablet we’re talking about, but don’t look surprised and read on, for the definite list of specs you might find on the device. Click on the following image for a larger view of it and 20 or so rumours about the Apple iPad:
Among those we find very likely stuff, like an unique tablet UI, the unveiling taking place today, support for App Store and a price estimated around $1000. A Q2 launch is very possible to happen, while the aluminium casing and E-reader functionality are pretty much sure things by now.
Moving on to less likely to come true rumours, we discover that the Apple iPad might sport a 10 inch display, although an 11 inch one or even a 7 inch screen wouldn’t bother us. Also, the device could run the iPhone OS, or a new version of the Mac OS X and it’s supposed to sport an OLED screen, although that can’t be confirmed either.
A new ARM CPU might be on board, while multitouch is dead certain, a front facing camera is probably on its way, too and 3G support is far from confirmation. Some even say that a Pixel Qi screen will be incorporated in the Apple Tablet, while others could swear that it’ll be sold by both Verizon and AT&T.
Want the truth? Stick around, for the 10 am announcement!
