Interpad NVIDIA Tegra 2 Tablet Reveals Its Specs (Video)

The Interpad tablet is a slate based on the Tegra 2 platform that will be available during the Fall. The device is scheduled for an IFA presentation and we know that its specs list includes 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot and a 10 inch multitouch display. An impressive 3900 mAh battery is also among the features, providing between 8 and 12 hours of runtime.

Word has it that this slate will pack a very impressive IPS display, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The folks of Mobiflip report that the Interpad will cost around EUR 399 and it’ll weigh a mere 660 grams. There will also be a business version of the slate available at Christmas time, with UMTS support, GPS and webcam, for EUR 500.

The higher end model will run Android 2.2 and provide access to Android Marketplace. Here’s the device in action, if you want more details:

Nvidia’s Android Tablet Looks Neat, at Least in Prototype Phase

The folks of Gizmodo have managed to get their hands on an Nvidia’s Android tablet prototype, that you can see pictured below. The device looks pretty nice and it incorporates a 8.9 inch display, plus the Nvidia Tegra 2 solution. The heart of this platform is a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor, surpassing the iPad’s A4 chipset by a generation.

Also on board you’ll find 1GB RAM (much more than on the iPad), two USB ports and a front facing camera. The units handed out to Gizmodo were only running games, so it’s hard to tell what this baby will do in the future. The widescreen aspect ratio should feel nice both inside and outside of a game and everything should run smoothly courtesy of the horsepower under the hood.

The screen we mentioned is capacitive, of course and it supports multitouch, but we have to mention that it’s not as glossy as the one on the iPad. What do you say? Will this slate sell well?

NVIDIA Tegra 2 to Go With Android; Compete With Snapdragon and Apple A4 Chipsets

NVIDIA want to challenge Qualcomm to a duel, courtesy of the Android OS, or so claims CEO Jen-Hsun Huang. Apparently, the company’s second generation Tegra solution will be more focused on multimedia and performance, being a real threat to Snapdragon chipsets and Apple A4 as well. Huang sees the NVIDIA Tegra 2-Android combo turning into smartphones and tablets in Q3 and Q4 2010.

Meanwhile, the NVIDIA CEO found some time to answer the folks among investors and analysts, claiming the Fermi GPU is a disappointment. NVIDIA has a lot of testing to do before the chip goes mainstream, because it’s a much larger unit than usual, with 3 billion transistors included.

Will we ever see a tablet with NVIDIA branding on and Android running the show?

Tegra 2 Has Issues, Causes Tablets’ Delay… Fake or Real?

Slashgear has a source saying that issues have starting popping up in the development of tablets based on NVIDIA’s second-gen Tegra Chipset. This “trusted source” also mentions that all projects were delayed, at least till late August 2010. Meanwhile, NVIDIA is claiming that the rumours aren’t true and everything is “on track” with Tegra 2. Which source are you willing to believe?

Back to the original source, it said that the new Tegra solution has stability issues, with Notion Ink and ICD waiting for NVIDIA to fix them. Compal’s tablet is apparently pushed to mid-September, while Notion Ink are also faced with 2 months of delay. The ICD Ultra 7 inch tablet and the 15 inch Vega are rescheduled for October 2010, the first bundled with an LTE mode, on Verizon and the second meant for T-Mobile UK.

All the info mentioned above was very much dismissed by NVIDIA, but at least we know what’s being said at the moment, right?

Notion Ink Adam Tablet Gets Analyzed, Compared to the iPad (Video)

Among the most appealing products shown at CES 2010 last month, there was Notion Ink’s Adam tablet, a true rival of the Apple iPad, if not better than the gadget created at Cupertino. Adam is an Android slate based on the latest NVIDIA Tegra chipset and using Pixel Qi’s low power display. The device is pictured below and the demo at CES 2010 involved only a prototype at that time.

A comparison between the iPad and Adam is predictable at this point and it seems that the Notion Ink device is better, as far as the battery life is concerned, thanks to the Tegra low power solution and the Pixel Qi display. Also, thanks to the NVIDIA chipset, Adam is able to output 1080p HD video, while the Apple tablet sticks with 576p/480p via an optional component cable.

Apparently, Notion Ink wants to release two versions of the Adam tablet, one with a 12.9mm waistline and the other one 11.6mm thick. Meanwhile, the iPad is quite fat, with its 13.4mm case and speculations about the Adam tablet go on, mentioning a better price than the one of Apple’s gadget. As a final plus for the tablet shown in action below, we’ve found that it runs Flash, supports Ebooks and comics and it’ll get its own app store.

Notion Ink also plans to run an Apps Competition, with huge prizes, in order to draw developers to their platform.

ViewSonic VTablet 100 Relies on Tegra 2 and Android

ViewSonic Corp has just introduced a new tablet in China, the VTablet 101, pictured below and packing an 8.9 inch touchscreen display, with a 1024 x 800 pixel resolution. The device is based on Android and it incorporates an NVIDIA Tegra T20 chipset and a 1 GHz CPU, plus 4GB of flash memory.

The new tablet supports WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and we learn that it also comes with a front camera, an audio and miniUSB port. The source who made the product info official claims that the device will cost $441, a pretty reasonable price tag for a brand new Android tablet with cool specs.

Nvidia and Verizon Demo Full HD Tablet With 4G Connectivity Support

Nvidia and Verizon Wireless recently demoed an Internet tablet with support for full HD video and 4G connectivity. The device is based on Nvidia Tegra and incorporates a 4G LTE modem made by Motorola. The cooperation between the US carrier and the maker of the Tegra solution was strengthened through the demo held at the Center for Innovation setup by Verizon Wireless, in order for companies to mess with 4G LTE technology.

This tablet is able to view full HD content and, for example, thanks to its speedy connection and long battery life, it can view hours of YouTube HD content with a single charge. Verizon intends to build a 4G LTE network in the States and then expand to 25-30 more countries in 2010, with Motorola providing wireless modem and data cards for new products like this tablet.

ICD has created the device pictured above and dubbed Ultra, in cooperation with Nvidia, Moto and Verizon.

NVIDIA Tegra Tablet is Real, Prototype Hands on Revealed

Remember the recently published interview with NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang and the tablet he was messing with at that time? Turns out that the device was in fact an NVIDIA Tegra tablet prototype, that’s just been analyzed via hands on experience by the folks of Engadget.

This is a Windows CE-powered piece of gear, with a resistive touchscreen display (15/16 inches diagonal), Tegra internals that resemble the ones on Zune HD and much more. The maker of this tablet is ICD and a partner for the sales of the device might be T-Mobile.

NVIDIA’s device is far from being finished, but it’s a prototype after all and it’s pretty good for what it’s supposed to be. The tablet is under an inch in thickness, supports 720p video playback and even comes with a wireless recharge station, a sort of base accessory that allows the gadget to recharge in upright position.

Who cares about the Apple Tablet when you see a great idea like this?
