Survey Shows iPad Owners Are Selfish and Unkind

A recent survey that involved 20,000 people found that iPad owners may be educated and sophisticated, but they’re also selfish and unkind people. Meanwhile, PC owners are independent geeks, according to consumer research outfit MyType. The group of people defined by selfishness and unkindness is called “selfish elites” and such folks are 6 times more likely to buy an iPad than the average person.

iPad critics are focused on self-direction, conformity and are keen on videogaming, electronics, the Internet and science. The independent personalities of the previously-mentioned group of people make them criticize the device that’s going for mainstream adoption.

Apple iPad Turned Into Sushi Plate

We’ve seen the iPad do many things, but none of them involved raw sea food placed on top it. A young Japanese man used Apple’s tablet as a dish for his sushi and not only. We learn that through iDish, you can turn the iPad into a… dish, that will virtually hold the food you’re eating. You have to perform a simple Google image search to find the ideal dish.

iPad Pyramid Projector Does 3D Graphics (Video)

While companies like Sony and Samsung are launching 3D TVs and cameras, we’re left with the everyday iPad, unable to deliver any 3D graphics… or is it? Thanks to a new accessory from Aircord, the N-3D, we’re now able to view 3D views as shown in the clip below. This original idea involves a pyramid shaped screen with a special film:

Let’s just hope we’ll see this product for sale, as it would rock not only the iPad, but also any tablet out there. Whoever thought of this just upgraded the tablet game totally. Let’s hope that Aircord Labs will make this gizmo enter mass production.

iPad Problems Spotted: Melting USB Cable Sounds Like Trouble

After the whole iPhone 4 antenna malfunction scandal, we’ve heard that some user got burnt when his iPhone 4 USB cable went on fire and now the same thing seems to happen to the iPad. A Slashgear reader going as Forge reported that his iPad cable melted, as he discovered the incident having smelled burning plastic one night.

We’ve heard about overheating Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 units causing fires, but should we worry about the iPad, too? Sooner or later, we’ll have to throw out all gadgets at the rate things are going now.

iPad to Debut in 9 More Countries on Friday

Apple has recently let the world know that they’re launching the iPad in 9 more countries, starting Friday. The new areas where the slate will land are the following: Hong Kong, Ireland, Belgium, Austria, Mexico, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Singapore and New Zealand. The 1.5 pound tablet provides 10 hours of battery life and features you must already know, at this point.

Let’s just hope that this fresh batch of iPads doesn’t surprise us with any software or hardware problems. We expect the pricing in the new release areas to be about the same, ranging from $499 up to $829 for a 64GB iPad WiFi+3G model.

Apple iPad Triples European Slate Sales

The Apple iPad might be the most famous tablet out there, but it’s also solid gold for the whole slate segment, at least in Europe. According to trend watcher Context Research, the iPad alone tripled European tablet sales, resulting in a 257% market boost. Introduced in late May, the device sold hundreds of thousands of units in the first weeks after its launch in Europe.

Worldwide shipments of the slate are likely to reach 8.13 million by the end of the year, according to experts. However, we don’t know how long Apple will keep this up, considering the numerous rival products, with very varied choices, as far as processors, operating systems and hardware specs are concerned.

In Asia, for example, we see a tablet or two launched each day, as the local companies try to fight off the Apple domination.

OLED iPad 2 to Come Before Year End?

Rumours about the future iPad have already started popping up, with the next version being speculated to have a bunch of versions, with 5.6 and 7 inch diagonals. Apparently, the display on the new Apple slates will be an OLED, providing much higher contrast than LEDs and using less power. Also, such screens provide great color saturation, even surpassing the Retina Display on the iPhone 4.

There’s a slight drawback to this thing: even if the screen is completely black and the device is idle, an OLED display tends to have a slightly shining backlight, so an iPad 2 can ruin your sleep, if you prefer pitch black rooms. We’re hoping that switching to OLED is not the only improvement on the new iPad…

iPad Plunger, a Funky Way to Make your Tablet Stand

We saw a tiny iPlunge accessory for the iPhone, but what about the iPad? Here’s what seems to be a real plunger, used as a stand for the iPad. We can’t bet that it’s not, although we hope it’s never been used for… cleaning purposes. Is this some sort of metaphor on how the Apple tablet is sh*t?

Apple iPad Selling 1.2 Million Units Per Month

DigiTimes analyst Kuo Ming-Chi recently claimed that Apple has reached a new performance, shipping around 1.2 million iPads per month. The expert also mentioned that monthly shipments could reach 2.5 million units by the year end. Such figures were obtained from the iPad supply-chain manufacturer, LG.

The company shipped between 800,000 and 900,000 9.7 inch LCD displays to the Cupertino giant in May. Ming-Chi estimated that Apple has to pay around $80 to $90 per unit. Keep in mind that these are all estimates and predictions, so this is not the official version of the story.

Assuming the sold iPads are the 16GB WiFi versions, they’ll bring around $1.25 billion in gross sales every month, which is huge.

iJustine Tests “We Rule” Game on iPad (Video)

If you’re not familiar with iJustine, know that she’s two things: a tech passionate vlogger and a pretty hot gal. The blonde vlogger recently reviewed the “We Rule” iPad game, that’s veeery similar to Farmville. As you’ll find out in the video below, the game is some sort of “tycoon”, that allows you to build houses, created businesses, plant and grow asparagus and more.

Two currencies are available in the game: mojo and coins, with the first being used to decrease waiting time. For example, more mojo will allow the asparagus to grow in less hours than it normally would. Coins will buy services and objects and you’ll collect them through taxes. Sounds like fun? It sure is…
