  • Samsung debuted a new hybrid between phone and tablet today, a device with a 7 inch screen dubbed Samsung Galaxy J Max and priced below $200. This model has a 4000 mAh battery and brings a 1.5 GHz quad core SoC, as well as 1.5 GB of RAM and an 8 megapixel main camera.

It looks more like a phone than a tablet and brings a dual SIM setup, plus it came on the Indian market with the Galaxy J26 handset, that has a Smart Glow LED ring. Back to the Galaxy J Max, this unit is seen as a “gigantic smartphone”, with a 7 inch TFT WXGA display. It arrives with VoLTE support, dual SIM slots and an Ultra Data Saving mode.

Inside it there’s a quad core Samsung processor, clocked at 1.5 GHz, together with 1.5 GB of RAM. Other specs include an 8 megapixel main camera with autofocus and an LED flash, plus a 2 MP selfie cam. 16 GB of storage and a 4000 mAh battery keep things together. On the software front there’s Android 5.1 Lollipop, with an S Bike Mode and Opera Max. The actual price is $198.
