  • Xiaomi held a user poll over the past week, related to a new product and its branding. The company offered the fans the option to choose between names like Xiaomi Pro, Xiaomi Plus, Xiaomi Big and Xiaomi Max. Apparently, Xiaomi Max was picked by 51.62% of the public and it means we could see a mega phablet soon.

Considering the inclusion of Big and Max on the list, there are solid hints that Xiaomi is working on a larger than usual phone, a model even bigger than the Xiaomi Mi Note, with with its 5.9 inch display. As the name Max has been chosen, people speculate we’re going to see a 6.4 inch phablet with a Quad HD resolution most likely.

There’s talk of a Snapdragon 820 CPU inside, a fingerprint scanner and full network support for all Chinese carriers. Xiaomi has already launched a Xiaomi Max Weibo account, so this product is going legit. Seeing how phablets have cannibalized tablets, it makes sense to bank big on this segment.
