  • The Amazon Fire tablet priced at $50 was one of the most appealing slates from last year and certainly Amazon’s most affordable hardware product so far. In case the original’s 8 GB of storage wasn’t enough for you, there’s now a 16 GB version available.

Amazon has started selling that model recently, priced at $70 and keeping the 7 inch screen and the rest of the specs intact. Of course, people who have the $50 unit can buy a microSD card and use it on the device. It supports up to 128 GB in removable storage, but the built in storage is faster and more reliable, usually.

Both versions of the Amazon Fire tablet have 1.4 GHz quad core CPUs, 1024 x 600 pixel resolutions, a main 2 MP camera and a VGA front shooter. They offer up to 7 hours of battery life and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. We’re also expecting a new Kindle model next week, by the way.
