Sharp 7 Inch AQUOS Pad SHT21 Features Low Power IGZO LCD Display
The AQUOS Phone Zeta SH-02E was the inauguration device for Sharp’s brand new IGZO LCD technology, that debuted a few days ago. It was quickly followed by another device, the Aquos Pad SHT21, this one being a tablet with a 7 inch diagonal and meant to debut on Japanese carrier KDDI in mid December.
This 7 inch model promises battery life that’s up to two and a half times greater than the previous model, all thanks to that cool IGZO technology screen. Also, what’s impressive is that the device only manages to weigh about 280 grams and inside it we find a dual core 1.5 GHz MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 processor. The display supports pen input and a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.
Other features include 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of built in storage, a microSDXC slot and Bluetooth 4.0, plus MHL, NFC and 4G LTE. Powering the device is a 3,460 mAh battery and back to the special feature of the model, IGZO stands for indium gallium zinc oxide, a technology that was developed in conjunction with the Semiconductor Energy Laboratory. Sharp has been behind this all along, promising higher translucency from the displays based on this tech and less power consumption, too.
