  • During this week’s CES 2012 event Viewsonic unveiled two new tablet models: ViewPad 10pi and ViewPad 10e. Both of them run Android 2.3, which is a pretty good hint on how high end they actually are. The 10pi model also supports dual booting into Windows 7 Professional, if you want a better OS.

Of course, the ViewPad 10pi is the higher end unit, one that comes with an Intel Oak Trail z670 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD. Its screen is a 10.1 inch 1280 x 800 IPS display and the specs list also includes WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and an optional 3G radio for data transfer on the go. We’re not sure if this is a GSM or CDMA slate, but what we do know is that the ViewSonic ViewPad 10pi features a microSD card slot and a couple of USB ports.

There’s also a 3MP cam at the back and a 1.3MP webcam upfront. The battery of this device is a 3200mAh unit and the case is a mere 18mm thick. ViewPad 10e is a 9.7 inch unit with an IPS panel, a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor and 512MB of DDR3 RAM. 4GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and a 1.3MP cam upfront. This device uses a 5400 mAh battery and measures 9.1mm in thickness.
