Samsung Believes that All the Apple Lawsuits are Actually Good for Them: Free Publicity

  • Samsung just realized the oldest trick in the book: any publicity is good publicity, which is a basically a translation of what they recently said about Apple’s lawsuits. Those filed against the South Korea maker are actually a blessing disguise, they think, since they toughen up their image and style, plus they give them more visibility and fame.

Well, this idea applies at least in Australia, where in an interview with Sydney Morning Herald Samsung VP of Telecommunications in Australia, Tyler McGee thanked Apple. He said that the Cupertino giant promoted the Galaxy Tab 10.1 brand, by bringing media attention to it through lawsuits. Now, the tablet is a household name locally and it may be too early to tell, but the product looks like a hit already. Pre-orders of the slate have just begun down under, after Australia’s Federal Court overturned a preliminary injunction against the device.

The tablet should have been available this past summer, but the delay was caused by Apple’s lawsuit, that kept the device off the shelves till now, so close to Christmas. Well, it would be ridiculous to say that it’s all due to Apple, when it comes to the fame of the 10.1 inch tablet, since Samsung was already the number one phone and smartphone brand in Australia…
