HP TouchPad Debuts; Dual-Core WebOS 3.0 Tablet Coming This Summer

The big HP webOS event came and went today and it’s been an hour and a bit since we got to meet the exquisite new products that the US company prepared. We’re talking about the 9.7 inch TouchPad slate and the Veer and Pre 3 smartphones. It appears that the new tablet will run WebOS 3.0, while the handsets will have to do with version 2.2.

As you can see, we can kiss the Palm branding goodbye and we have to enter a new dimension, that only holds webOS as a reminder of Palm technology. Back to the HP TouchPad, this tablet is a 1.6 pound 13.7mm gizmo, capable of “true multitasking” and featuring a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon CPU, plus a 9.7 inch 1024 x 768 pixel display.

You can get the slate in 16 and 32GB versions and know that it also comes with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n support, A-GPS, Skype calling and a nifty virtual keyboard. VPN and wireless printing are also featured as well as a function that allows you to take the HP Pre 3 calls on this unit. Notifications, texts and URLs can also be switched from one device to the other simply by touching them.

As far as the accessories are concerned, you get a case/stand, a wireless keyboard and a brand new Touchstone dock. 3G and 4G versions of the slate are also expected and we invite to have a look at the following promo video for the TouchPad:
