EC Media International Debuts Wink E-Reader in India; Comes with 200,000 Book Titles

  • India is the place to be these days, when we’ve heard that the locals will get a $35 tablet courtesy of the Government and companies involved in this project. Also, EC Media International launched the Wink e-reader in the same country, a very nifty piece of gear with support for 15 languages and 200,000 book titles right from the start.

    Publishers are also on board with this initiative, so great names like Penguin, Oxford University, Harper Collins and Roli will provide their digital books. No info on pricing yet, but we’ve heard that Croma will be the retail partner for the Wink e-reader and Redington will handle distribution. Here’s a list of specs, if you’re curious:

    Display: e-paper, 6 inch, 800 x 600
    Storage: 2GB of inbuilt storage
    Connectivity: GPRS, WiFi 802.11 b/g, USB 2.0
    Battery: lasts 10,000 page turns or 10 hours of music playback
