Fujitsu Showcases Color eReader Prototype; Coming in 2010

Fujitsu started testing color e-newspapers in Japan about a year ago and now it seems that they’re ready to head to the consumer market. The company has been showcasing a prototype e-reader unit based on an e-ink panel recently and you have to know that the device also comes with a slim case and it will make it to the market this year.

Fujitsu didn’t release too many details about the product, but we’re guessing that it supports wireless, if we take into account the prototype’s front panel that includes a “Link” indicator. The original prototype packed a touchscreen interface, an SD card reader, USB 2.0 and it ran Windows CE plus a custom UI.

The device’s screen is three times the size of the display on Kindle and it squeezes 50 hours of battery life out of its power source, with the wireless on.
