Cowon has just launched a new HD media player, the V5 HD, that can also be considered a tablet, thanks to its specs and size. The device packs a 4.8 inch touchscreen display with an 800 x 480 pixels resolution, support for 720p HD video (via HDMI output) and a DMB TV tuner.
Standard definition video on external displays is also supported, via a proprietary composite video cable. Cowon V5 HD also uses an SD memory card slot, runs WinCE 6.0, supports WiFi and packs a battery that should last about 45 hours, when playing audio and 10 hours when playing video.
You can use this device as a digital photo frame, a calculator, converter, notepad, RSS reader and more. V5 HD will be available on January 1st in South Korea, going for $253, in the 8GB version. It’ll also be available with 16 or 32GB of memory.
